Amazing things with hazlenuts and berries

On a trip up north visiting friends and family in Scotland, we popped in to see my good friend K and Man About Bathgate. Some friends you just pick up where you left off and it's like no time has passed. Fantastic.

One thing I had slightly forgotten was how good at cooking they both are...

So (and here's where women's magazines are worth their weight, particularly Red), much banter, catching up and stuff, we sat down to a gorgeous salad with roast hazlenuts, blackberries and crispy bacon. Really fresh and delicious.



And then... the most impressive cake with red berries with redcurrants and mint. M and I just couldn't help ourselves with the camera...



So, apart from a brilliant time catching up (not so long next time I hope...), an amazing lunch with some great ideas... Might just 'borrow' them....
